Scott R. Roe, President, Corporate Risk Solutions, Inc., will be presenting on reducing the impact (pain) of a NERC CIP audit through effective preparation, and discussing the NERC Audit timelines regarding both pre- and post-audit initiatives. This presentation will help you understand what to expect in a NERC CIP Audit by understanding the NERC auditor’s perspective. The goal of this presentation is to help your utility recognize specific areas to improve upon prior to undergoing an actual NERC Audit in order to be more successful. Included in this presentation will be discussions on NERC CIP Compliance Program implementation, documentation, management commitment and abilities, and preparing RSAW’s with proper evidentiary documentation. Through the discussion, Mr. Roe will also provide comments on how to prepare SME’s for an audit, which will include techniques for testimony and evidence presentation.

At the 2011 RMEL NERC Roundtable, Michael W. Tibbs built upon last year’s presentation in which CRSI discussed what to expect during a NERC CIP Audit and how to recognize specific areas to improve upon prior to an Audit to reduce the number of potential audit findings.
This year’s presentation discussed the developments that have taken place in the auditing process from January 2010 through March 2011, including the most common findings and how to avoid them. This roundtable was a RMEL member forum dedicated to discussing NERC compliance and audit issues. The morning included a case study presentation of a utility’s NERC compliance and audit experience and was followed by Michael Tibbs of Corporate Risk Solutions presenting on Insider Tips from an Auditor’s Perspective, which enabled those executives in charge of their NERC CIP Compliance programs to learn about what to expect during an actual NERC CIP Audit. Michael’s presentation helped those utilities in attendance to recognize specific areas to improve upon prior to an actual NERC CIP Audit in order to reduce the number of potential audit findings.
