Effective ESP Design
NERC CIP-005 R1 requires that all applicable Cyber Assets connected to a network via a routable protocol reside within an Electronic Security Perimeter (ESP). Verifying the ESP and sufficiently documenting its communication paths and security controls are often challenging endeavors.
As the industry leader in Cyber Security Solutions for the electric utility industry, CRSI provides an expert consulting team to map your organization’s control systems network, update or design, and document your ESP(s). With our extensive experience, you can be assured that the resulting design and implementation meets or exceeds all requirements of NERC CIP-005, R1 through R1.5.
CRSI works closely with your IT staff to prepare detailed drawings that include identification of all external communication paths (routable and non-routable) Electronic Access Points (wired and wireless), intrusion detection systems, and other applicable security devices. Asset lists for all applicable Cyber Assets within the ESP are prepared to support the drawings.
We prepare detailed procedures relevant to access permissions, firewall rule sets, access control lists, authentication for dial-up connectivity, and malicious communications detection for inbound and outbound traffic. We then work closely with your SMEs to implement the controls.
CRSI strategically partnered with more than 250 electric utilities in the last five (5) years for their NERC CIP Compliance Solutions. To find out more about how to create your Security Compliance Roadmap, call us today to schedule a free, no obligation consultation.
